2 Brewster men sentenced for having sex with minor girls

CARMEL - Two men who pleaded guilty to rape charges involving girls ages 13 and 15 in an apartment they shared in Brewster were each sentenced yesterday to one year in the Putnam County jail.

Putnam County Judge James Reitz sentenced Pedro Sagastume, 22, and Jeremias Perez, 23each to the one year as part of a plea agreement that prosecutors said was approved by the teenage victims and their families.

Sagastume pleaded guilty to second-degree rape for having sex with a 13-year-old girl, while Perez pleaded guilty to third-degree rape for having sex with the 15-year-old girl. The charges are felonies.

The sex was consensual, authorities said.

The two have been held at the Putnam County jail since their arrest in July by investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

The two undocumented Guatemalans will also have to register as sex offenders prior to their release from jail and could face deportation.
