Accused dentist killer Mikhail Mallayev spent the weekend of the murder at an old friend's Queens apartment - then suddenly vanished hours before the shooting, the man testified Wednesday.

"He came suddenly. He said, 'Can I sleep to your house?' I said, 'Sure, why not?'" Rafael Mosheyea, 45, told a Queens Supreme Court jury hearing evidence in the murder of doomed dentist Daniel Malakov.

Mallayev arrived on Oct. 25, 2007, and left three days later, hours before the shooting. Mosheyea said he didn't question the reason for the visit, but was shocked when Mallayev disappeared without even saying goodbye.

The testimony puts Mallayev in Queens on the day of the slaying. He first denied being there that weekend, prosecutors said.

Mallayev and the dentist's estranged wife, Mazoltuv Borukhova, are charged with murder. Prosecutors say the wife paid $20,000 for the slaying because she was enraged after losing custody of the couple's young daughter.
